Trying to find a temp sending unit for my Inline 6 165hp 250 CID. Found a couple of numbers on the part 12=V U10 --- 362-AJ. Gauge is a Stewart Warner. Stewart Warner doesn't recommend alternate use of gauge or sending unit with non-authorized part. Local NAPA can get the part, but the wait is late next week. Anyone else using a different temperature sending unit with a Stewart Warner Gauge. Do you have a part number to match up?? I may get stuck with waiting til next week w/ NAPA. Was hoping to hit the water this weekend.:( Any help on this would be deeply appreciated...

Monster, Temo gauge senders work on resistance. If you can find out the resistance range of the gauge or sender, you may be able to match it to a standard replacement sender.

Yeah, I guess I just thought maybe someone here had to replace theirs before and had one that matched up already. I found a thread on another forum that shows that Teleflex 1501371 & Datcon 02019 would also match up, but I can't even find a local supplier that has any of these in stock. If I don't hear anything else, I guess I'll just have NAPA order it tomorrow and suffer another week away from the lake.

I have been down the same road as you. I would suggest, since you are short on time, is to go to your local marine supply and pick up a matching set, gauge and sending unit from same make. Should not be all that expensive and a quick install. I started off changing just the sending unit. Didn't trust the readings, so installed another sender. Still no good. Installed a mechanical gauge to check for actual readings which confirmed my suspicions. I got pissed off, went to local store and bought a matching set-up. Readings matched mechnical gauge perfect. Learn a lesson from me.
