I need to know if a temperature sensor has to be in "working order" in order to rev past 2500 rpm??

I disconnected the tan wire, grounded it to the head and did not get an alarm. Leads me to believe that it is bad. I disconnected it and rev'd the engine, but still wont go past 2500 rpm.

Yes i have spark, fuel and compression!

Re: Temperature sensors

Which head? Starboard or Port?

When you grounded the wire, was it the part that goes to the cylinder head or the part of the wire that runs to the harness and control?

Sorry, but we cannot see what you are doing.

Re: Temperature sensors

I grounded out the wire coming from the ppack.. And tried it from the head as well.

I grounded out the oil sensor first to make sure the alarm was working, which it is.

just disconnect, do not ground out anything

Re: Temperature sensors

Even with the sensor disco'd, The engine is still limited... I still have not received an answer if there has to be a WORKING sensor installed for the engine to rev higher.. ?? Well that is, if the problem only lies in the sensor.

Re: Temperature sensors

The power pack limits the RPM If the sensor indicates that the engine is overheating. If you have no sensors connected to the power pack then temperature sensors are not your problem.

Re: Temperature sensors

ok. So, If I have 120 compression on all 3 cylinders.. spark on all 3 cylinders.. A disconnected temp sensor.. Fuel going to the carbs..

hmm.. Floats on carbs are not stuck. We can still assume it is a fuel issue then..

Is it cogged jets then? We blew into each carb and jets and air was going thru both holes.
