I ran into this.
1. If you think it will not corrode, think again.
2. The devil is in the details (See 3).
3. Big picture and long-term thinking are also very important (the latter definitely still matters) (See 2 and 7).
4. It is not only the poor metals and alloys that suffer (See 1).
5. Controlling it starts at the design stage-on the drawing board/CAD terminal (See 2 and 9)
6. Nobody said controlling it was easy (See 2).
7. It costs real money; consider the saying: ?paying a little now, or paying a lot later?.
8. Be careful out there--of the pain in paint. (Remember good surface preparation is crucial, and see 2 and 9).
9. Enormous efforts of others have gone into developing professionally recognized codes, standards, specifications, guidelines, manuals?worthy of consulting.
10. Many a small initial problem, if undetected or ?conveniently? ignored, will eventually become a big (very inconvenient) problem that can no longer be ignored (See 7).

Bondo, I couldn't agree more, in salt water, OMC triple guard grease (waterproof) and Pennzoil Marine wheel bearing grease are my best friends......I really use it on almost everything, even the threads on my engine water drain plugs, and they always come right out (salt water cooled!) When I grease the prop shaft after it sat in salt water for 6 months, the OMC triple guard looks like it just came out of the tube.<br />I use the Penn Marine grease on all the grease fittings on my Jeep as well.
