Might be a silly question but do I put my main leads from the battery on the corasponding studs? I assume that is where it goes? Here is a pic of what I have

The leads from the battery would go onto the studs with nuts. The negative on the left and the positive on the right. Don't forget to fuse the positive close to the battery.

No Title

I started my wiring. I have a fuse off the battery then main power and ground running to the front of the boat to the terminal block. I have lights, compass and horn wired wired. obviously I haven't put in the fuses yet but does this look correct? I have reused some of the old wires so that is why you see some black and white wires. 10awg red main on bottom and 10awg green negative in top.

that looks correct. Did you put a fuse on your +red lead right at the battery as well?

Also, looks correct. And I see that you mentioned that you fused it coming off of the battery.

Yes, I have a inline fuse right off the battery. Thanks for the confirmation.

What size wire do you have going up to that fuse block? What size is your main fuse at the battery?

Curious why you went with a glass type fuse holder vs a more modern blade type? I personally don't like those types of fuse holders. Not as reliable as a blade style.

I have 10 guage wire going to the block with a 30amp fuse at the battery. No real reason I went with the glass style, just what I bought. This is my first boat project so I don't have any previous experience to base my decisions on.

Thanks for the heads up in the fuse block. I will probably stick with what I have but if I run into issues I will look for the other style.

That style fuse block was considered fine from appx 1930 to the 1980's....

Actually, its still considered to be fine, or they wouldn't make them any more.
