Terminology Help... Don't Want to Look Stupid(er)

Hi again.

I'm ready to put my '81 140 Ev back together. However, due to it's being long neglected, not to mention being run with a busted piston ring, pretty much the whole thing is caked with carbon and schmootz.

I want to take all the parts somewhere to have it professionally cleaned while still in pieces. So, can I get this done? Somewhere that will dip all the parts together in a basket of magical fluid and have it all come out squeaky clean?

And, what do I ask for... a "tank cleaning?" A "French Dip?" (I just made that term up. ;o)

TIA

I would go to a garage with a parts washer and ask if you can use it and do it yourself. If not try to rent one yourself.

any place that rebuild motors, will have a parts bath, or chemical boiler. tell them what you have and what you want. did you have to bore the cylinder that had the bad ring, the same place can dip your parts.

I did not bore the cylinders. I know that I should probably have had a professional mic the pistons and the cylinders... but I'm hesitant to spend the money. I'm poor.... which is why I've taken this project on rather than pay someone to do it. I've avoided everything I would have to pay someone else to do unless I positively had to do it.

My plan has been to clean everything, replace those things which are obviously broken, reassemble and hope for the best. Time I've got.... It's money that's scarce. After reassembly and a test run I will check compression, fuel pressure, etc.

Am I insane?
