Do anyone have any idea on how to make a homemade test tank for my 70 hp and 115 johnson engines. I want to be able to put a load and do some testing.

Re: Test Tank

I'm sure a test tank could be made, I have seen them made of steel. I can't think of anything that you could purchase to convert into a test tank though, well the only thing that comes to mind is a cooking oil disposal tank that some restauraunts use to dump their old cooking oil in.

You could go to your local scrap yard (if they sell of the yard), and see what may be laying around.

I have heard that a feeding or watering bin from a farm works well.

I suppose that would work, sounds a little big but what the heck, make sure it is clean and go for it.

I took a plastic 55 gal. drum and cut about 1/3 off the top. I trim up my motor, slide the drum under it, lower the motor and fill it with water. Works pretty good for a load and not having to leave the driveway

Unless you have a test wheel you may not be able to put your o/b in gear. Once your prop starts spinning you are going to throw out all of the water.
