Test Tanks???

I have a 85hp '73 Johnson. If I run the motor in a test tank can I put it in gear? My motor misses when I throttle up in gear. I'm changing and replacing things one by one and I trying to avoid dragging it to the water after ever adjustment to see if its still missing (I went four times yesterday)

Big-He,<br /><br />Alot depends on how big your tank is. That prop is going to throw a TREMENDOUS amount of water.<br /><br />You may be better off backing the boat down a deserted launch ramp and leaving the boat attached to the trailer.<br /><br />Otherwise, to run an engine of that size in a tank requires a test prop.

take all of your tools with you and work on it at the water.
