My repair manual states - To check the maximum
spark advance, the outboard MUST be operated with the proper test wheel. DO NOT operate the powerhead with a propeller, or flush adaptor while performing this adjustment. Indicated to
connect a timing light - operate powerhead at a
minimum of 5000 rpm with the outboard in FORWARD
gear and align between the 18 and 20 degree mark.

I have synchronized all the linkage and the motor
runs and idles great. The best ever!

My top rpm is low. Top rpm is about 4800, book
indicates it should be 5500 to 5800. When I was
fooling around (I mean being very foolish) I changed the throttle and spark control rods.
Would not idle well, however my rpm under load
would reach over 6000 rpm, felt this was bad -
went the the manual synchronized throttle and
spark rods etc. That is where I am at present.

I use the motor on a 21' pontoon boat.

I can live it's present preformance, however would
like to know the timing was to spects for fuel
consumption etc.

Can I purchase a Test Wheel or does anyone have
a better solution to subject wheel?
