I have an intermitant problem - my engine sometimes loses power while running. It only happens when the boat is in gear and it only happens every 5 minutes or so. I want to see if there is a spark on all cylinders when it happens as I want to know if it is electrical or a problem with the fuel system. How can I set something up so that while underway I can keep check on wether or not I am getting a spark?

I have found this Spark Checker , Can I attach this and run my engine at the same time?

Thanks,
Todd Lynch

Timing light, 2 people one to operate boat, one to watch timing light, when it misfires the light will blink. Method 2 peak reading meter with harness from Rapair that connects to all of the coils , switch from cylinder to cylinder, all cylinders should read same.

Hey Todd,
No, that spark checker is designed to check the spark going TO the spark plugs. Your spark plugs get no spark with it hooked up. Clanton is right on the money.
:)
Backlash
