Testing stator on Mercury 9.8?

I've got a 1983 Mercury 9.8hp, 2cyl outboard. I've got no spark on either cylinder, so am beginning to test the ignition system. I got a Seloc service manual, and its great but I am stuck up on the testing of the stator.

In the manual, it says to test the stator by measuring the resistance "between yellow stator wire and ground" as well as "between yellow and while coil wires." My problem is, I'm having trouble figuring out which wire the Yellow Stator Wire is. I've found the two yellow coil wires which come from the coils and are bolted to the stator, but am unsure which yellow wire to test for the stator itself.

Appreciate any help! Thanks!

Testing the 2 coils for ignition under the flywheel or the coils for the battery charging system if equipped with that item ?

I don't have a battery charging system because the motor is a pull start. Does that mean I should just be testing the two coils?

One more thing... I'm seeing that I should use a DVA adapter to test my stator as well as the ohmmeter. How do I use the DVA to test the stator/what voltage levels should I be looking for?

Okay.... I believe I've figured it out. I tested both coils with the ohmmeter (between yellow and white wires) and only one of the coils was within the specs. Does this mean the entire stator is bad and needs to be replaced? Haven't done DVA tests yet.
