Hi,
I recently purchased a 1985 johnson 40 hp ( j40elco). Guy I bought it from said the stator is bad. it doesn't have spark so I went ahead and took the flywheel off and now have access to the stator, but I don't know what to look for when testing it with the multimeter. here is a link to the full ignition system: https://www.marineengine.com/parts/...&manufacturer=Johnson§ion=Ignition+System
