A few years ago I drove to my brother's house to pick him up for a trip to the lake. As usual Pat was late and while waiting in front of his house I decided to test the trolling motor. Holding the propeller firmly between the thumb and fore-finger of my right hand I slowly turned up the power with my left hand. Fortunelty it was late in the year so I was wearing gloves and wasn't hurt too badly. A lot of swelling went away while we were fishing and the cuts healed a few days later. The sad thing is this is not the dumbest thing I've ever done. It's not even close.

Re: Testing the trolling motor

ha ha, that reminds me of when i bought a motorguide 47lb thrust motor. my friend thinks he can hold the prop in his hand while he simultaneously turned the power on. he did, through the first 4 speeds, when it hit 5 it was the most horrible sound i ever heard. he was holding one of the blades and it pulled loose from his hand leaving a nice cut across his palm. he still has a scar to this day and i make sure to laugh everytime i am reminded of it. good thing he wasnt hurt seriously, to me this definatly qualifys as a stupid human trick.
