I sold a jon boat to a freind about 10 years ago with a 57 5hp Sea King engine. The motor hadn't been started since I sold it. I just bought the whole setup back. The engine wouldn't start so I took the pull start off and looked in the hole in the top of the flywheel and saw the coils majorly cracked. I started searching the forum and found those coils were bad. I searched everything I could find for help to get the motor going.I put new coils in and spark plugs. It would try to start but stop. I remembered reading about old sparkplug wires and took an old wire I had from my truck and replaced the old worn wire on the Johnson, Right now the motor starts on first pull ! <br />So I want to say a big thank you to all that have posted their problems and you that gave your answers. You never no who you're helping behind the scenes !
