I have a 19 ft. 1973 SeaRay SRV190- 302/888 outdrive. When I bought this boat A year ago for $700.00 , I figured I would have some repair to do. The engine always had an idle problem, seems that I was feathering the throttle at idle most of the time. Finally rebuilt the carb , but the idle problem was still there. I was talking to a friend and he told me to check out the Flyweight Springs in the distributor , I did and found that someone had replaced the Flyweight Springs with some strange combination. The springs were not broken , just not the right ones. Fixed that with new springs and she idles just fine now.
Then that same day the engine just quit running and would not restart at all. Checked for fuel at the carb nothing, checked the pump nothing, took a chance and connected an electric pump to the main fuel line and the other end into a coffee can to catch any fuel, nothing. I decided to follow the fuel line to the tank and checked the entire line for cracks or brakes. I found a long crack in the fuel line at the main tank fitting, replaced the fuel line and it pumps fuel like it should and is running just fine.
I just wanted to say Thanks to everyone here for the help and ideas. I have read many posts with a lot of the same problems that I have just fixed and thorough a little process of Elimination was able to get back on the water . YOU guys and this site ROCK. Thanks again
