I've owned a 1965 17' Cobia SeaQueen cuddy for the last 20 or so yrs. Other boats of mine come and go but this one is a keeper. I did a complete stringer, floor and transom job in pt and epoxy a couple yrs ago so it should be around another 20.

Nice to hear bill. I also have a 79 cobia 16' runabout I'm going to do the same with this winter. Currently, it's my fishing boat. Found a weak spot in the transom earlier this year and injected epoxy resin in it to strengthen it until winter because I didn't want to lose my fishing boat for the year. That thing can get in a foot of water (triming the motor up behind the transom) and draws very little draft. Perfect for my river and creek fishing. But I know that epoxy is going to make it tougher on me come time to redo the transom.

Hello all. I just bought a '78 sportster bowrider and is almost all original. I'm missing the bow back cushions and the seat vinal is in sad shape but nothing that is to major. It's my first boat and everything works. Has the original 2.3 and i touch the key and it starts. Am going to be doing alot of upgrades to it and some minor repairs this winter but I love it.

I believe your boat is a very similar unit to mine. Unlike yours I bought ours as a "project!" I am proud to say it hit the water on time and we have had 60 plus hours with it so far this summer.

Some of the work I did was
Floor and stringers replace, repower to a 3.8l 229 cubic inch OMC with a 800 series drive.
Added a second fuel tank (now at 36 gallon capacity), stereo, interior fix up (carpet, new dog house, redye seats, replace some interior trim, new carpet along with a bunch of other fix ups.

A few items I would still like to add
Swim platform (flip up to clear drive when tilted for trailering, I have some ideas to modify one I have that is teak or might make my own design from scratch) a wake tower or maybe just a pylon to improve things for the wakeboarders.
4bbl carb and maybe a SS prop.

We love our Cobia!
