A special thanks to DHadley and Reel Appeal for their inputs! You two nailed it right on the head.

Problem: '71 Johnny 50 HP, elec shift, overheated. Replaced water pump, but then poor power at WOT. Person I bought it from told me that he recently "rebuilt" the carbs. I took DHadley's and Reel Appeal's advice and pulled the carbs for cleaning/check. Wouldn't ya know it, he rebuilt the carbs alright...with the same parts being reused  ! The needle valve/seat were worn down to a nub and the gaskets were shot. I found a little RTV on them where I suppose he broke the gasket and was too cheap to buy two $15 carb kits to do it right  . Well, I did. Took her out today and, BOO YAH! full power  . I did replace the plugs again for the heck of it, they're not that expensive, lol.

A special thanks again to you two and to the others who posted thier ideas, I checked them all!
:D ;)
Alex
