Don S, thanks for helping with the information about "base" timing on my freind's 2000 Merc 5.7. He emailed me last night after he took it out for a test run. Said the boat ran better then new.
May I ask one dumb question? Why does Merc use this "base" timing? What gets by passed when put into base mode? Why couldn't a timing number be known when not in base mode, say 8 degrees or 12 degrees or what ever that figure would be?
Thanks again, first time I ever had to work on something this new.
