I am finally once again enjoying the use of my 1976 Johnson 115hp. I did a top to bottom rebuild after a major engine failure. I had to bore it out 20 over to get clean cylinders, but I went back with Wiseco pistons and all new major parts internal to the engine. I cleaned or replaced all of the bolts and fasteners and painted all of the covers and components prior to reassembly. I went ahead and did a new waterpump and new seals in the the lower unit. THE WATERPUMP IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was my first experience with a 2 cycle outboard engine. I could not have done it without the help I received from this forum. Sometimes it was a question I posted, most of the time I just looked around and found out that someone else had asked the question already. The modification to add a tell-tell so I can verify correct operation of the water pump, the Joe Reeves method of setting timing without steering with my toes as I roar off accross the lake. And so much more.
So to iboats and all of the great folks helping out their brothers in boating,
THANKS!!!!!
