I bet the 50 HP 1989 Model used the same pin. They were all alike from the early days of force,as was Mercury. Did it have a small plastic piece on the end that "Snapped" to lock the pin in place? At the risk of admitting I'm a complete idiot, I'll confess that the engine is a 50 hp. I don't know if it has a plastic part or not. It was completely gone when I got it. The botom of the part should be threaded and the top seems to loop through a pin. I don't know what is supposed to hold that (L part) into the pin and I can't tell from the diagram you sent me.<br />Thanks again
