To fill everyone in on my story (as if most of you aren't tired of it already). My 88' merc V6 200hp had some problems coming home one day after a great day of striped bass fishing. I could go no faster than 8-10 kts on my long ride home. I tested for spark, only 3 cylinders fired... tested stator and it was bad so I replaced it. No change, no spark...two new switchboxes. Now I have all 6 firing and thought I was good to go...Nope still can't go over 10-12 kts.. Lesson of the story, when it rains it pours. Finally I enlisted in the help of the iboats forum. They reccommended a carb cleaning. So I soaked those bad boys and whoa...hold on to your hats.
