Here’s a little video of Vice President Cheney, that he had with The American Enterprise Institute that just might clear some of the controversy up on Iraq. Its 12 O clock somewhere.

That was then, This is now. Sadam continued to threaten the USA and ignored the UN over and over and over again. Both sides of the aisle thought invasion was a good idea at the beginning. Whether there was WMD or not. Yes, even Sen. Kerry!

Re: "The Audacity of Shallowness"

<Here is the transcript.

Q: Do you think the U.S., or U.N. forces, should have moved into Baghdad?

A: No.

Q: Why not?

A: Because if we'd gone to Baghdad we would have been all alone. There wouldn't have been anybody else with us. There would have been a U.S. occupation of Iraq. None of the Arab forces that were willing to fight with us in Kuwait were willing to invade Iraq.

Once you got to Iraq and took it over, took down Saddam Hussein's government, then what are you going to put in its place? That's a very volatile part of the world, and if you take down the central government of Iraq, you could very easily end up seeing pieces of Iraq fly off: part of it, the Syrians would like to have to the west, part of it -- eastern Iraq -- the Iranians would like to claim, they fought over it for eight years. In the north you've got the Kurds, and if the Kurds spin loose and join with the Kurds in Turkey, then you threaten the territorial integrity of Turkey.

It's a quagmire if you go that far and try to take over Iraq.

The other thing was casualties. Everyone was impressed with the fact we were able to do our job with as few casualties as we had. But for the 146 Americans killed in action, and for their families -- it wasn't a cheap war.

And the question for the president, in terms of whether or not we went on to Baghdad, took additional casualties in an effort to get Saddam Hussein, was how many additional dead Americans is Saddam worth?

Our judgment was, not very many, and I think we got it right. >

Of course we had a multilateral coalition of the willing, including the countries of Micronesia ad Eritrea.

Kinda makes you wonder what changed his mind. I believe the American People are entitled to a explanation. What point changed the value of a soldiers death?

All of this from the Political part that had the audacity to call Kerry a flip flopper.

We gave Sadam a chance to be open and amend his ways. Sadam wouldn't comply with UN resolutions. The US can't fool around with dictators that threaten other nations.
Remember the US didn't want to enter WWII but things change with time.
Nobody wanted to stop Hitler early in his conquests either and look what happened. England, France, and Russia trusted Hitler.
You have to take these kind of guys seriously.

Re: "The Audacity of Shallowness"

1994 If you'll check a callender, that was a bit BEFORE SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. They were actually talking about the way the first Gulf war had to be terminated SHORT of going into Iraq. And why, liberals? WHY did we have to stop on the road to Iraq? Could it maybe have been the "trail of death" brought to your living room ala the 6 o'clock evening news with dan rather and his band of inbedded mercinarries??? The burned-out hulks of vehicles with the charcoal still behind the wheel? Hmmm? I remember that well. "Global opinion" of the US? Hmmm? go ahead, libs.. bring it up again .. LET'S ROLL!!!!
Disgusting how you parse carp!!!!
American my eye!!

Re: "The Audacity of Shallowness"

Right on 12er!! Mr. Tree: did you read the Weekly Standard piece? Mr Cheney's thoughts post the 1991 war; pre 9/11/2001 were spot on. Geopolitics are not like a video game: Mr Tree. Things change. Sadam played the Libs in the UN like a willing fiddle with the oil fer food scam; n' shot at us and the Brits nearly every day as we patrolled the no fly zone per the terms of Sadams' surrender. He sent $25,000 checks to the families of bombers n' had his finger prints all over the WTC bombing in 1993, n' tried to assasinate GHW Bush, n' don't forget the 727 near Bagdad fer practicin' hyjackin' commercial jets.

I don't think this is tiddly winks either Mr. Tree, glad it's such great sport fer you while your brothers n' sisters in arms are dyin' over there. Rather then distract the thread I started why don't you reply with intelectual honesty to the valid points in the WEEKLY STANDARD ARTICLE???????????? Respectfully, (although playin' with this heavy stuff is not fun fer me), JR

Your right JR, its not tidily winks, where you got the idea that it is great sport for me I don?t know .The death of over 3500 hundred Americans is never taken lightly by anyone that has ever served, plus hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. No JR that isn?t taken lightly by me.

Evidently vice President Cheney in 1994 didn?t take it lightly either.

Nope been deliberately trying to **** you off, to get the real Murky out that is behind the persona that you try to project on DC, been rather successful if the last few post is any indication. Most of them have been direct and on point, not to many asides, a few but not as many as before. If anybody doesn?t believe me, go have a look. Respectfully and I truly mean it DC.

Confusious say, "One must be honest with himself, before he can face reality" -- or was that Mr. Miaggi?

From the way you respond to serious SPOT ON articles like the one that I used to start this thread: Mr. Tree.

The death of over 3500 hundred Americans is never taken lightly by anyone that has ever served, plus hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. No JR that isn?t taken lightly by me.

Evidently vice President Cheney in 1994 didn?t take it lightly either.

I have never felt either VP Cheney or P Bush took matters of war lightly Mr. Tree.

Nope been deliberately trying to **** you off,

Why? I don't try to deliberately **** off anyone, why would you do that?

to get the real Murky out that is behind the persona that you try to project on DC,

I may only have one functioning brain cell Mr Tree, but I'm not a liar, n' I'm not PROJECTING anything that I'm not. You don't know me Mr. Tree, n' I do know myself: believe it or not. I'm who I am, (on iboats or anywhere else I happen to hang out), I have no reason to hide from anyone or anything or impress anyone. Where do you think you get such superior mind reading skills from? They don't work on a simpleton like me, so they don't work PERIOD. Flush the terlet: Mr. Tree.

been rather successful if the last few post is any indication.

How so Mr Tree? Please 'splain where I have lied or projected false things about myself. I am what I am.

Most of them have been direct and on point, not to many asides, a few but not as many as before.

Yer talking code here Mr. Tree. Please speak plainly, so a dip stick with one brain cell can understand some plain words. Where have I ever lied or falsely projected myself here on DC??

If anybody doesn?t believe me, go have a look. Respectfully and I truly mean it DC.

Show me. JR
