Re: The Deals are out there!

Craigslist ad said:
This boat in 2004 the hull and deck was professionally painted with AllGrip Topcoat and engines redone. The boat has been on a sling out of the water since 2007. One engine is not working at this time it has turned a crankshaft bearing and frankly at this time I don't have the time/money required to fix it.

Sounds as if the previous repairs are questionable and boat could be a basket case of a project. It does look good in the pic though.

That said I do see the deals every day on CL, tis that time of year.

. One engine is not working at this time it has turned a crankshaft bearing

This is what needs to be done to Amanzi,
Bottom paint job
Engine short block. Exhaust manifolds and elbows in good shape. Lost of hours left
Generator needs a tuneup, water pump impeller and the exhaust manifold needs to be replace
Needs a new battery charger
.

You think THAT'S a deal ??. A 1985 with a bad engine for $7K. .

I have a bridge I want to sell ya. :D

Not a great deal, but still alot of boat for someone who doesn't want to buy new. This boat would probably take atleast 10g to make her the way she needs to be, then it wouldn't be a deal anymore. You would have more into her than she was worth at good retail.

those boats in good shape run 30-90 K on the net... just sayin

I'd have sold my welly for the one in nashville but they are inboards and as such no good for regular trailering (too much draft for many ramps) I just looked for it and it's gone.... It needed an engine too... They have a nearly 15' beam btw I know, what kind of crazy am I to even consider trailering something that size? LOL

$30-90,000 for 1980s 32' boat?

15' beam? I thought they measured about 12'6"?

I could be wrong on my assumptions but a guy at out club owns one. Very roomy boats for 32'. The price isn't terrible, but it will need some work. In good working condition it's probably a $15-20,000 boat.

The craigslist add actually has a link to the nada pricing for that year boat. You would have as much into her and more if you planned on new electronics along with new motors than the nada says its worth. That being said, it is a great deal compared to buying something of the same size new.

Not legal to tow a boat that wide w/o permits, lights, and a follow vehicle. And any boat that is 15' wide, isnt a boat that would ever be on a trailer on a regualr basis. I think even 11 footers are requiring special permits to move from one place to another.

In California, the leagal limit is 8' 6" but I see that getting overlooked a lot. If it's obvious, such as this would be, you'd need to go pull a permit and get a route.

LMAO.... I know that.... but I'd at least THINK about doing it any way.... mine is just over 10' wide and 33' oal and I trailer it all the time.... I'm slightly different from average LOL
You'll think I'm even crazier now knowing what boat I was actually thinking about

btw an annual recreational blanket permit is cheap in indiana
