I read the decarb thread listed in the top secret sticky file. Is it possible to do this process, or an alternative that doesn't involve the "wot spin" as described? Here's the post I'm referring to: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2648076#post2648076

It's a drive to the lake, plus I'm not particularly keen on smoke bombing the rest of the campers/boaters...

I have a large barrel that I can fill with water and lower the motor into. Can I use the high idle to burn off the carbon?

You can do a thorough decarb running in a barrel, but try to keep the RPM around 1500.

Read the way Capt. Dunkleberger coached the process in the first place and you will see that a high speed run wasn't part of it, but running under load was. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158076

Nevertheless, by the time you run it through the third cycle of SeaFoam, the engine should be clean and the fire truck should have come and gone.

You get the engine hot, you pull the spark plugs, and one cylinder at atime, with the piston near or at TDC, and the cylinder in a near vertical orientation, spray in the de-carb(OMC/BRP, Valv Tect) and let it soak for 10 minutes, repeat for the other cylinders, then put the pulgs back in and run it in your test tank for 30 minutes or so. On the back of the older OMC engine tune-up/decarb can it tells you to do this for heavy carbon. Plus it's far more effective as it goes into the cylinder full strength, works wonders, un-sticks the rings and compression goes up.
