Welcome to iboats!
Pictures are okay.

I wouldn't ask 'why' but 'why not!' It doesn't look too bad to me. Just a bit dirty.
good luck! Keep us posted.

That boat has really nice lines.

I would hit it with a s*#tload of Tilex bathroom cleaner and a scrub brush. On mine I found Tilex takes mold and mildew off fiberglass instantly.

Yes - very dirty but it will clean up nice. :) How do people let their boats suffer such neglect???

I have seen less worthwhile projects. It's great that everything is solid, however I would still be concerned about saturated flotation foam.

Good point EZ. And it brings up an opportunity to ask a question from another thread, also relevant here. How do you check for wet foam? What is the least invasive/easiest to repair procedure?

Re: The Good,Bad,and the Ugly!

Core sample. Take a piece of PVC pipe, cut some teeth in it. Cut a hole in the deck, jam the pipe into the foam and pull it back out. Examine the sample to see if it's wet. There is no easy or non-invasive cure to wet foam. It will never dry out and must be removed. Wet foam can add hundreds of pounds to your hull and had reduced ability to float your boat in an emergency.

Actually in this case pull the fuel tank the foam is in remarkably good shape. although treated like a POS the PO had the thing on a 45deg angle to make room in the driveway couple that with the driest summer here in Ct. in years I'm in good shape

Re: The Good,Bad,and the Ugly!

Okay since first posting this is how the old girl is coming along and what I've accomplished.
New raw water impeller new alt. and timing belt changed all fluids cleaned the raw water strainer now here's the part that's gonna have you folks going WHAT!!! I picked up some restaurant coffee pot cleaner and ran it through the raw water system let it sit 30 min. and flushed it with a baking soda solution to neutralize it. Ran the thing for 1 hour on flush muffs and I can tell you it never budged past 180 deg.s with the oil pressure at 40 #

Okay not to get too long winded the day ended with a maiden run for the old girl and I. The cool part my neighbor came by to see how I was doing and when he heard i was taking her tell me I'm going home to get the Browning wait for me at the ramp that took a load off me nerves.

In ending the old gal ran like the Swedish watch I hoped for.
performance? a little sluggish out of the hole a bit over propped i think but on a wot throttle pass (very short duration) the rpm's maxed at about 4550 (trimmed) the speed on two speedos his and mine dead on 40 MPH.

Sorry for the long post But I'm very excited and wanted to share my joy after all it was a lot to do with all your help.
Oh and as you see I actually got some other work done also
Thanks again
Happy camper:D
