The hose to nowhere. 1997 Ocean Pro 200

I was checking to make sure all the hoses where properly connected when I came upon a hose that runs from a fitting at the base of the block (right in the center) and is connected to nothing. I've been all over the motor looking for the connection but have hit a wall. Am I blind? I can't find the connection anywhere. even the manul has been of no help.Is it perhaps a "piped" vent?

Look for a hole or nipple in the rear of the air box.
