Today I was cleaning up around the woodshed to move the splitter close to where I was stacking firewood. I had just dropped a bucket load of oak billets on the ground where I was going to set up and just started to grab the tongue of the splitter with the bucket when my doberman ran up and started barking as loud as she ever does. Staring towards the woods with the hair up on her back I knew something really disturbed her. Since there is a ravine a few yards from where I dropped the wood I at first thought a bear may have poked its head through the brush. I stopped the machine, got off and she was still barking towards the wood pile. And then I saw it too, the dreaded oak of the woods monster. I had to walk over to the billet and put my hand on top of it before she finally realized that it wasn’t a danger to her or me.

Amazing how well they can stand perfectly still when you are looking at them. But when you are not looking...bewhere. I guess you never ever watched "swamp thing". Enough said!
