Here?s the rest of the story (see entry under ?keeping score?).
Yup, forgot to put the plug in one beautiful day July, 2006. The wife and I headed out to fish the north jetty in Galveston. We got to the boat ramp and as usual on most beautiful days in July we had to wait in line to launch. Gives one plenty of time to ready the boat. Right! Finally it?s our turn. There are three ramps with a dock for each that extends about 30?. Anyhow, got the boat in the water. While I was parking the rig the wife managed (with the help of a fellow boater) to pull the boat to the end of the dock so others could launch. When I returned and as I was approaching the boat I heard this unusual sound. Sounded like water running from a faucet. Only there weren?t any faucets except for the one in the transom of MY boat. Huh! Now that shouldn?t be running. I knew right away what I had forgotten. Yeah, the plug. That brass thingy that screws into the back of the boat thingy. I didn?t panic. Didn?t have time to. I told the fellow that had helped my wife that I needed to get my boat out of the water. Quick. Pronto. Like, it isn?t out yet? He helped clear the ramp we had just launched from and from which his party was just about to use.
Blah, blah, blah. Got the boat on the trailer and out of the water. The bay sunk about six inches until my BOAT was finished relieving itself. Put the brass thingy in and went fishin. Had a great time catching Spanish Mackeral. Well the wife had a great time. She always out fishes me.
Thank goodness for automatic bilge pump and a special thanks to the courteous boaters who cleared the ramp for me. Thanks guys.
Happy and safe boating y?all and remember ? don?t forget anything, especially that brass thingy we refer to as the plug. It does serve a purpose.
