I recently acquired a 1996 Fountain Center Console 25' with a Yamaha 200HP Salt Water Series year 2000. I understand that the currently the engine has a 15 inch prop, and this is probably diminishing the power and performance on the boat. What model and make of Prop do you recomend for this engine and boat? Should I go for a 17" or a 19" ? Should I buy a 4 Blade Prop or a 3? What else can you recomend to boost power & performance?

Thanks...

Re: The right Prop for my Yamaha 200HP

The correct prop is the one that is a balance of your X dimension, set back and gets you to your RPM goal.

What style/brand prop is yours now? What RPM does it get with an average load? What RPM are you looking for with your average load?

Let us know these things and your current (actual) top speed and we can calculate percentage of slip to establish a baseline and then make some realistic suggestions.

Good luck!
