On my 10 pin 703 control box there are two short wiring harnesses coming out of the control box (+ the long one going back to the engine). What are these wires for?Found out yesterday that it has a ground connection, a constant positive and a ign positive lead?.Maybye also a tach output? Is the warning buzzer supposed to be connected here.It came disconnected when I bought the motor used.I bought a brand new control box whan I got the engine so I wouldnt have to use the previous owners mangled wiring harness...

They are there for dash gauge connections, adapter cables are available for different gauges/warning lights etc.

If you have a tach, it should be connected on one of those short plugs.

So I wont need to go all the way back
to the motor to connect my digital yamaha gauges?

Nope, the long harness that goes back to the motor already contains that connection, so you can take it straight from the control box.

Re: The short wiring harness on a 703 control box

part of your question about the tach will depend on the engine model number. thats all I can say about that.
the red, light green and light blue leads are for a seperate engine trim switch such as a bow mounted switch on a bass boat.
the red, black, yellow and dark grean are for the tach and speedo if using digital yamaha stuff.
for trim and oil alarms and visual overheat idicators you will need the trim harness.
here again part number will be engine model dependant.
