.....ahhh, boxing day...the week of bargains.
Ok, so who (honestly) has been out shopping???
Honestly....I haven't.....and you probably won't find me within a country mile of a store (except a grocery store) this week. You will find me tho'....probably out for a beer or lunch with a buddy or two. How about it guys? Are you shoppers?
However, I do love surfing a few of the Craigslist electronics and 'free' categories.....now thats where the bargains are. No shortage of last years electronics (TV) available for free....while the new stuff rolls into place.;):)

Agree completely. Enjoying my time off and absolutely refuse to go "shopping" for things that I can get for almost the same price in mid January. Alternate is to order the "bargain priced object" on line and have it delivered to your door within a couple of days.

Gotta do some shopping over the phone, had an amplifier go up in smoke during our Christmas Eve Service. But that will be the lonely shopping I do this week!

Ahhh, no. Getting tired of seeing "shoppers" on the national news too. I wonder what retailer will put a big sale on a "must have" this week to induce another stampede?? Haven't seen enough of those this year...

It's kind of a mixed bag of reactions to the super shopping element of this week.
Its good for the economy but it is also the week of self-indulgence and consumerism. So much so that the shopping frenzy of this week actually becomes 'news'. Then again, if you are in need of something it is a good week to get a discount on it.
Everyone usually has an angle on it....but I'm kind of thru with any interest in shopping/stores stuff for a week or two....hence the interest in maybe a few pints with the buds at the local pub in lieu of shopping.
My two bits anyways...

Well, I have purchased a new laptop for myself and for work but did it on line.Got a top of the line HP with a boatload of ram and all the bells and whistles for running all the simulation software. I will now be able to review tooling designs etc from wherever I am in the world. Should get it tomorrow (delivered to the door).

Spending money you can't afford on something you don't need is never a bargain at any price.

I was at WM this morning for tires (shouldn't admit that, but that's another subject) for my son's car. The store was like a mausoleum.

Should have added that as it is for business use I am not paying personally for it. But i did actually "on line shop" for it.

You're right JB...but shopping appears to be an affliction for some. The only thing is the 'hit' doesn't last.....sometimes as little as 48 hrs.
I was thinking back when I was a teen in the 70's and then just into the early 80's and I don't really remember this being a big thing. Then again, as mentioned I've never been a big shopper although its often entertaining to watch people line up in front the Apple stores waiting for the next thing to be released.
Without focusing too much again on the younger generation.....boxing week sales seems to have temporarily replaced the 'Occupy' marches for some of them.....at least temporarily.:D:D

On the other hand, the Salvation Army was a mob scene later in the day.

This shopping spree is the creation of the media. Without all the media "coverage" it would be far less.
