If the yellow stator bullet connectors were slightly loose woukd that cause rectifier failures? My grounds seem good. I put multimeter in bullet connectors to test ohms and i noticed a slightly loose connection if i put pressure upwards my meter would read 3.2 or higher and if i put down pressure it woukd read .1-.7 range. Im gonna sotter it lol. I dont know how to spell sotter. But would a slightly off connection right there destroy rectifiers?

Rectifiers either blow or they don't. They can easily be checked with an analog ohmmeter. Some digital ohmmeters have a way to use them to check rectifiers, but you should look that procedure up, if you don't know it.

Rectifiers used in OB charging systems are 4 diode bridges. With a meter designed to check diodes, place the meter leads on any 2 adjacent connectors. You should have a dead short or an open. Reverse the leads and you should have an open or a dead short, if the rectifier is good. If they are open or shorted with the leads connected both ways, the rectifier is bad.

Of course that begs the question. Do you have a rectifier or a voltage regulator on your motor?

Its a rectifier i blew 2 last year. Im putting on my new one squaring the boat away but im trying to figure why they keep blowing. Everyone says bad ground but my grounds are tight so idk? I ordered a flywheel puller and im gonna try to learn how to read a multimeter and test everything. Stator is 20 years old. Ive heard rectifier failure can damage stator but can damaged stator or stator in general affect rectifier? Im thinkin bout slappin a new stator on but i hate to throw parts at stuff.

Stators usually do not blow the rectifier. Loose connections do. Make sure the + and - wires are solidly connected and make good contact. If the bullet connectors look suspect, replace them.
