OMC 4.3 I checked three times and there was no petcocks on the under side of the manifolds... Would they have drained when I pulled the plugs to the block?

ABSOLUTELY NOT !

It looks like they will drain when you pull the hose off the front of each manifold, tho.

Can you take a picture? there should be a drain on each manifold. you need to get that water out quick..

Got the same motor, and believe me, there IS a drain on each manifold. It is possible that someone before you replaced the petcocks with pipe plugs, thus making them harder to see. You need to treat those manifolds like gold, because replacements are super expensive and getting hard to find.

There is a difference between the 91 and the 88 models, the 88 is the one piece batwing, that one has the normal petcock, the 91 they changed to the 2 piece like the later model Volvos, those have a rubber cap on the end that can be removed to drain.

look in OMC/Volvo parts, there diagrams that will make it clear.

Re: There was no petcocks on the manifolds

I havent seen any kind of plug on there...all it says in the manual is to dissconnect the hose in the front of the manifolds. But its level with the manifold and the fitting on it faces up, so no water came out. In the back theres a brass fitting( not a petcock) but again it's level with the manifold.

Im wondering if I should take off the fitting in the front and lower the front of the boat and let it drain that way...But I dont know how much water that would get out???

Yes, remove the fittings, tilt the boat. You will get most of the water out, the little that remains will not do any damage. Put anti-seize on the fittings for next year.
