I'm changing the thermostat -raw water cooled 2003 4.3 190 HP MERC- I have the service manual#25 My question is on the installation, it says the gasket has continuity rivets Do not coat with Quicksilver Perfect Seal or audio warning temp switch may not work , but then it says to coat it on step #5 in manual and reinstall.I'll give more info if needed.<br /> I know one of you top notch wrenches will help me out, also is there an alternative to the Quicksilver Perfect Seal?<br /> thank you, Celtic Knot

The Point is to keep the Brass Rivets Clean,+ in Good Electrical Contact with Both sides of the Housing........<br /><br />Those Rivets are How the Water Temp Sender gets Grounded Out..........<br /><br />If you Gunk Up the Rivets,........ The Heat Gauge Don't Work...............

thanks, I went buy the dealer and asked a mech. he gave me some quicksilver perfect seal and a couple of tips. <br /> this site is Great!
