Thermostat for 5.0 gxi-d freshwater vs seawater thermostat . What is the difference?

5.0 gxi-d. Thermostat fresh water vs seawater what is the difference? Is the freshwater thermostat really for freshwater or is it for a closed cooling system?

By the way The seawater thermostat mounts higher up in the thermostat housing

two different thermostat housings, two different thermostat styles.

fresh water = 50% glycol/50% water with a heat exchanger
seawater = what ever the boat is sitting in. technically it should be called raw water.

Thank you. That is what I assumed but wanted to be sure.

Raw water cooled uses a 160 F stat, and the closed system from memory is 175 F.
