1988 30 Sea Ray with twin 5.7 L and removed a thermostat gasket that had a metal interior sandwiched by layers of regular gasket material. The only type that I can find is the regular impregnated paper type. Can anyone help to find where the metal type layer type gaskets are available.
The thermostats are removed every year when winterizing and the metal types have always worked well for me ......until last year where I got heavy handed and cracked it. Any help please.

Usually the gasket will have metal rivets that provide electrical ground for the temperature sender(s). Probably have to get them at a marine store, online (iBoats) or maybe NAPA might have them.

The gaskets that come today are just a type of impregnated paper material, the sender is not on the housing therefore rivets are not required on this model.
The metal part is the full size of the gasket sandwiched between two hardish material slices . The metal part cannot be seen except on examination of the edge.
The sierra dealer mentions all the gaskets for the older style (80's) 5.7 Mercruiser's came with this style of gasket but now the paper style is only available from most dealers. I am just wondering if the old style gasket is available from somewhere.

You are a champion, Design I - Ref # 8, perfect I will order two.
Thank you very much....

I was dealing with local supply houses, West M etc. supplying only the paper style gaskets.
