O.K., finally broke down and ordered a new thermostat, pressure control valve and gasket for my 1999 Yamaha 90C, and just wondering if you guys recommend using any kind of sealant, gasket cement, marine grease or other goop on that new gasket...or just mount it dry? I've never replaced this thermostat and worry about screwing something up! Thanks for any of your ideas on this!:)

Re: Thermostat Gasket

I wouldn't.
You don't want any foreign material getting into the water jacket.

I installed my new one "dry" and have not had a problem.

Same advise. Check my manual for my OX66 150 hp and it does not show any sealer on the gasket.

Thanks guys!....I'll just mount it without any sealer....Hate to be a worry-wart, but if there's a way to screw something up,I can usually find it!;)
