well I got my manual for my 1959 Super Seahorse 35 yesterday, it is not a manual just for this year, errrr, it runs from 1956 - 1972, I must say I have spent 55.00 on better things, however; I have looked every where and it still does not show me the proper order of the parts in and around the thermostat, I have a washer, a grommit, a spring with a ball on it, thermostat cup and the thermostat. I know where the cup and thermostat go, however I am a bit confused on the spring with the ball, does the ball point up or down into the thermostat slot? what is the point of this device? do i realy need it?

Re: Thermostat installation order

From my parts breakdown.....

Spring goes in the hole first, the ball (valve) goes on top of the spring. The round gasket seal goes in next. The cup sets down in on the gasket....be sure to orient the cup slot to the tube coming up the side of the head.. The t-stat goes in next. Cover gasket and cover.
