Thermostat Installation

Does the big end (opening end) of thermostat point to the engine block? Could go either way. I think the parts breakdown shows it that way but want to make sure before it is buttoned back up ( 1997 90 HP).

In my manual the end with the copper pellet sensor goes toward the engine.

Got a model # ?? Two different model #'s built in 1997.

it is a e90tsleu - really confused now since BRP shows the smaller ends going toward the water inlets vice the engine block

The big ends go toward the block and the small ends go toward the housing where the hoses come in from the cyl heads.
