I have a question about the thermostat and housing on a 1978 OMC 185 (chevy 305... Thanks fone_man) I replaced the intake and carb this weekend and i noticed that there was no thermostat in the normal location on the manifold. What was there is a much larger housing that has the one large water intake hose, 2 smaller water hoses that go to the exhaust manifolds and one other that goes to the outdrive (not sure on this last ones destination.) There is what appears to be a thermostat between the main large hose location and the 2 exhaust ones on top. However this is molded in and is not replaceable. Also, the 2 ports on top that go to the exhaust manifolds have small 3/8" outlets, about 1/4 the total size of the hose that attaches.
One more piece of info. The temp hardly every rises above 120. after 30 min at WOT the temp will reach 140...

Two basic questions...
1. Is the thermostat just missing??
2. It was dificult to tell if the exhaust water ports to small due to build up or if they are intentionally small. Should they be so much smaller then the hose?
