87' mercruiser 260/5.7 Alpha 1.
I'm installing Thermostat next in my project, but the kit has too many gaskets some that aren't even perforated, which ones should I use anybody have a link for the diagram my housing has 6 holes , i have a kit Mercruiser Thermostat Kit 160 Degree V-6 V-8 1987-Up rplcs 807252Q5 18-3647 and also should i use gasket sealer?

Gasket #8 has a metal part that must be bare and touching bare metal on it's top and bottom to make a good conductor to ground for your temp sensor. The flat gasket goes just under the top, and the round one goes just below the 'stat itself. I use Mercruiser Perfect Seal compound anywhere parts are joined except the conductor gasket.
They probably gave you water pump gaskets too. Just use the ones you need and put the others somewhere you can remember. You will throw them away in 5 years!

Thanks NHguy, but, my housing looks totally different than that, mine has the T at the top with the two balls on the sides.
