Alright well I have a 1991 johnson 140hp model number is VJ140TLEID. I'm trying to get the thermostat seal out. I've tried using some bent needle nose pliers to kind of pry it out and it's not coming. It's the old style seal that is half rubber half stainless. Any ideas? I'm thinking of just cutting it out using one of those hack saw type things. The seal is completely wallowed out and needs to be replaced.

I'm gonna get one of those bearing pullers and see if they works. I'm not sure if there is anything for it to grab onto from behind though we'll just have to see.

If you know what a cotter pin puller is you might try one of them. Got a good strong hook on the end.

You think getting it out is hard, wait till you try to reinstall it.(hint order several and I have never been successful with cylinder head on engine as the need to be pressed in)
