Thermostat...... what degree and same as auto?

Questions regarding thermostat for a Mercruiser 5.0 (1992).

1.) What temp is best?

2.) Thermostat and gasket..... can these be bought at a regular auto store or is this marine specific?

Marine specific, 145 to 165*
Unlike an auto thermostat they are held in the housing with a rubber 0-ring.

GET OEM! I learned the had way that the OEN gasket has 4 small rivets to complete the ground
