I have a 2000 24 ft sea ray sundancer with a 5.7 efi bravo 2 merc cruiser. I alwyas had a 160 themostat and the boat ran 170 and never had a problem. this year the mechanic installed a 140 and said he rather have the boat run cooler. As it turns out when Im running 3400rpm the boat still runs at 170. Now I am also getting an alarm going off. Can this alarm be due to running 170 with a 140 thermostat? The oil pressure is fine I run it about 40 at idle speed sometimes goes down to about 10. Is the low oil pressure ok at around 10 or would that set off the alarm? The outdrive oil is fine so that couldnt be whey the alarm is going off. So can the alarm be due to oil pressure being to low sor the temperture to high for a 140 thermostat? Thanks Cool it
