Thermostat....

I have never checked...until now.....

the boat runs cool so I pulled thermostat housing. Should I see the thermostat just I would in the typical automotive set-up? There is nothing there...

2003 Carbed 4.3 Mercruiser. Any one have a picture of what I should be seeing?

What is your engines serial number. Merc doesn't list engines by year, only SN

the thermostat is on the housing, not sitting in teh intake...corect?

Do you have fresh water cooling? Merc lists 3 different ones one for fresh water cooling, 2 for raw water cooling depending on type of drain system used.
None of them go into the intake, all are in the thermostat housing. Just need to know what you have in order to get you the proper picture you asked for.

Your thermostat (5) sits against the gasket (3) up inside the thermost housing (1) in the picture below.
The thermostat is held in place by the sleeve (6) when bolted to the engine.

Awesome! Thanks Don! The boat is running cool at loaw speeds...I think it is stuck open.
