On my 73 50hp evinrude I have let it run for several minutes with the muffs on it, I have noticed that the water coming out of the pisser is cold and the motor is just sightly warm. I have to run it with a fast idle. It will not run at slow idle. Could the thermostat be stuck open, and could this be why it will not run at slow idle.
I hav noticed that after shutting the motor and the water off that the water coming out of the pisser is just warm, not hot.
If it needs a thermostat where is it located.

Re: thermostat

I've never owned one of these particular motors, but they're always somewhere on the back of the powerhead. Either under a cover plate or in a seperate housing. You need a manual from iboats to locate it precisely and it'll be handy for many other things, too.
