I have a 1995 evinrude 88 special. I need to replace the thermostats, but I cannot figure out how to remove the bolts or even how to get to them. Does anyone have an easy solution to this problem?
If the thermostats are located between the cylinder heads and below lhe powehead, you've got your work cut out for you.
It is doable,but not easy.
Is this what you have?
Why are you replacing them?

DHP
I don't know the 95s but most of the OMC V4s are the same. You may have to drop the pan at the base of the motor. The OMC shop manual shows pictures & provides the procedure. For my 1987s a 1/4" drive socket wrench with a universal and 1' long extension is a must (7/16" socket) as well as a 7/16" open end/box combo.

It is a ***** of a job but if I can do it anyone can.
