We have some 24-25's with 496 and 502s in them on Lake Cumberland.
We have a 25' with a 135hp i/o and I want to get a 22' tri-toon with a 150hp outboard. Currently my top speed is 25mph. the 22' with the 150 was tested at just shy of 40mph.

Yamaha makes a 350 outboard that we have ordered once in a while but average is 150 and for I/Os as Fyrfightr said we go to 496 once in a great while someone will get the 501 but 5.7 is the norm.

About 2 years ago Dale Earnhart Jr ordered a 28' I/O, delete engine, I can only imagine what ended up in that boat.

Hahaha,

The look ridiculous going fast too. Not in a bad way, just... kind of shocking if you you're not used to seeing one move at a good clip.

I watched a youtube video with a pontoon that had a large engine on it. Guy was sitting a bit back in a cove and would come out WOT as people were coming into dock. Not getting in their way or being dangerous, just showing off.

People would slow way down and do a . Just odd to see something that big move so fast.

At my place we sell Manitou, the SHP model with a 250 Etec will do 55 with 4 people on board. Amazing handling, will outhandle most sterndrive boats by far. But they do look funny going that fast dont they.

I have a manitou SHP with a 175 Yamaha on it. While I might not be the fastest Pontoon on the lake (I know of one boat with a 200) I am definietly the best handling. I've had it slipped for a couple years now and still get lots of looks and questions as I come in off the water.

Pontoons just aren't supposed to move that fast or turn that sharply I guess. (I'll admit to showing off about once per trip. Doing high speed donuts to pick someting up I missed, that sort of thing)
