As I was looking for a new project boat, I heard some statements from boat owners that made me cringe. I'm not making these up.

- "I added a bimini top to the boat because I wanted more speed. The bimini top acts as a wing and provides lift."
I don't get this one at all. How could anyone think those light aluminum poles and "S" hooks could be strong enough to "lift" a 3500lb boat?

- "After removing the boat from the water, I always run the outboard for a minute or so. This insures that all of the water is pumped out of the engine."
I hope he enjoys replacing waterpump impellers!

- "The transom seems solid for the most part, but I added these 24" threaded rods that secure the top of the transom to the top of the motorwell bulkhead to stiffen up the structure."

- "Why do you ask me if I ever repacked the wheel bearings? I have Bearing Buddies. You NEVER repack bearings once you install these."
I guess I learned something new here.

- "I know that half of the floor is soft, but TRUST ME, it will hold you and anyone else you can put in that boat. Your are not going to fall through that hull."

It was fun looking at many boats and talking to the owners. They were all very nice and I don't intend to make fun of them, but some of the statements one hears are so entertaining.
