Ok i launch my boat start her up get to dock tie it up and stalls out. Does this alot. Checked fuel bulb seems it will keep running if I pump it. Do the reeds have anything to do with pulling fuel. I know rings do, if I had messed up reed would this occur. Also seems like a miss driving hard rrrrr aa rrrrrrrrrrrr aaa still goes pretty good. Are the reeds hard to check on this model. Stalling at idle is bad combo when trying to dock in wind. Read that someone else had tracker mercury with this problem.

Do a compression test and if that's good then it's most likely a fuel related problem.

I would suggest fuel pump, rebuild kit is under $20.
Sounds like it could be starving for fuel.

You mentioned squeezing the primer bulb.

Was it soft? or going flat?

I installed new diaphram kit 7 years ago, I didnt follow directions and break little plastic shaft thingys holding valves. Couldnt break them with plyers without damage to valve. The bulb does not really get all that soft but if I start squezzing before it shuts down even though its hard seems to keep running.

I cut those plastic shafts off with a diagonal cutters.

Well, I think it is fuel related, either the pump, or the carb need rebuilding. Why not do both. Squeezing the bulb may just be forcing the fuel past the needle valve.

Get your rebuild kits from a Merc dealer, they may not be better, but the kits have the parts you need.
