Hello all! I'm thinking about buying this OB I tried to turn the f/w with my hands but I couldn't get to move.
It last ran 2 yrs ago. 400$ B/M/T. The owner is going to get his mech to try and git running. Not sure what year it is.

Re: Thinking about buying 75 mariner

I would NOT buy this rig. Parts like the tilt and trim and a trailer would be worth the $400. However, if you try to get the boat and motor working reliably, you will probably spend 3 times what it would be worth when you finish it. If you can't work on the boat and motor yourself, I'd run and hide from it. The boat is probably totally rotten if it's been sitting outside uncovered as it appears. The motor is probably seized and even if the mechanic gets it running, it probably won't stay that way if there was rust on the crank bearings and such (which you can't tell if YOU aren't the one tearing it down). If you can't do the work yourself, there's no such thing as a cheap boat.
Just my opinion,

Thanks for the reply jbj. I don't know much about these o/b . I was basically wanting the motor for a different boat. This boat would maybe be a restore project down the road. That part I can handle it's the motor that I have a hard time with.
But thats what I'm looking for . Honest opinions!

Leave it be. RUN. Won't go into details, but from what I see in your pics, not needing to know anything more, RUN. Your purchase price would probably be the least money you spend on it by a long shot.

When buying a rig, appearance is essential. When you see one that looks like this, it reflects upon the owner and how the rig was cared for (my 0pinion...no slander intended) Poor care is one of the worst things that a new owner has to overcome and it can get expensive real fast.

BTDT but I unknowingly coughed up $1600 for a lemon that I had to completely restore.
